The fourth and final season of “Snowpiercer” has finally found a savior. Deadline reports that the series has a new home after Warner Bros. Company decided not to air the show’s completed Season 4 on TNT in one of its recent cost-cutting moves.  AMC now has the rights to all four seasons of the post-apocalyptic drama and will premiere the show’s last batch of new episodes in early 2025. “Snowpiercer” Seasons 1-3 will also be available to stream on AMC+ later this year.

It’s rare for an entire season of TV to get shelved before its premiere, but “Snowpiercer” was another casualty of the WBD’s abrupt about-face under the command of CEO David Zaslav. Luckily for showrunner Paul Zbyszewski, AMC stepped in to revive his series. “We’re so thrilled the train has finally found a home, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone at AMC and Tomorrow Studios for giving the fans of “Snowpiercer” a chance to enjoy season four with all the hard work this amazing cast and crew put into it,” Zbyszewski said in a press statement.

AMC is equally happy to let fans of the series see how it ends. “”Snowpiercer” is an edge-of-your-seat thrill ride with a loyal fanbase — similar to the passionate fandoms we serve across our biggest franchise series — and a welcome addition to AMC and AMC+,” said Ben Davis, executive VP of original programming at AMC Networks and AMC Studios, yesterday. “We look forward to giving viewers an opportunity to binge the first three seasons later this year, in anticipation of the arrival of a remarkable fourth season helmed by Paul Zbyszewski and this stellar cast, which will premiere in 2025.”

Based on Bong Joon Ho‘s 2013 film starring Chris Evans (itself an adaptation of a French graphic novel series), “Snowpiercer” follows what’s left of humanity on an icy, post-apocalyptic Earth in 2026. Survivors live on a giant train that circles the planet, but tensions onboard lead to groups defecting and battling each other for both safety and supremacy.  Daveed Diggs and Jennifer Connelly leads the TV series cast, with Iddo GoldbergKatie McGuinnessRowan Blanchard, and Roberto Urbina also starring. Season 4 adds Clark Gregg and Michael Aronov to the cast.

TNT canceled “Snowpiercer” back in 2022 after WarnerMedia and Discovery Inc. merged into Warner Bros. Discovery. After the merger, TNT and its sister channels TBS and TruTV began to move away from scripted TV series, leaving “Snowpiercer” out of the network’s future plans. But after it was canceled, producer Tomorrow Studios shopped the show’s completed Season 4 around to buyers in hopes of finding a new home. AMC eventually acquired the show’s rights, but that doesn’t mean they’ll agree to build out “Snowpiercer” further and fund a prequel and sequel to the series.

Still, this is good news for “Snowpiercer” fans: they’ll get to see the show’s final ten episodes after all. Stay tuned for an official premiere date for “Snowpiercer” Season 4 on AMC and AMC+.
