General Hospital to Reunite Santa Barbara Duo (Again)
One of Santa Barbara‘s premiere supercouples will reunite (again) on General Hospital, when Lane Davies, Nancy Lee Grahn‘s scene partner on the long-defunct NBC sudser, pays a return visit to the ABC soap — but in a different role.
On NBC’s Santa Barbara, Grahn played legal eagle Julia Wainwright to Davies’ Mason Capwell, the black sheep of the uber-wealthy Capwell clan. An original cast member, Davies parted ways with Santa Barbara in 1989; Grahn, who joined its cast early in its run, stuck with the NBC soap until it went dark in 1993.
Davies and Grahn first reunited on GH back in 2002, when he was cast in the role of Dr. Cameron Lewis and lightly crossed paths with her (déjà vu alert!) legal eagle Alexis Davis. Davies’ first GH run ended in 2004.
This time around, beginning the week of May 22, Davies will play the GH role of Fergus Byrne, an attorney who crosses paths with Grahn’s Alexis. TVInsider was first to report on the casting.
Grahn was quick to comment on the re-reunion, writing on Instagram, “It never gets old. We do 😂…. but it doesn’t 😍. Lookin’ forward to another romp.”

I am so happy to hear this news. Nancy and Lane were such a joy to watch On Santa Barbara decades ago. I was excited when Lane came to General Hospital in 2002, but his character was never developed well and killed off too soon. I’m counting on General Hospital to do better with Lane’s talent this time.
They’re really gonna call him Fergus Byrne? Obviously this one isn’t going to last long either. Why do him like that??
If I’m remembering correctly, though this “Fergus” character hasn’t been seen before now, he was mentioned, and I think it was in the context of being somewhow involved in the process of Alexis getting her disbarment reversed and being able to be a lawyer again.
He may or may not be related to Neil Byrne, Alexis’ former boyfriend who was murdered by needle in her bed, courtesy of Harmony the cult wackjob, who still somehow managed to be the least psychotic of Willow’s mothers.
Yes, he was mentioned and is Neil’s brother. He was mentioned recently as being behind Alexis getting disbarred. She’s getting a new hearing so I’m sure that’s why he’s going to be on the show. I’m happy, I always liked them on Santa Barbara. Hope he sticks around and this time maybe they get together on the show.

Lane Davies is a wonderful actor. I was a HUGE fan of Mason & Julia on Santa Barbara. Part of the magic between M & J, Cruz & Eden, etc. was the dialogue. No soap opera could ever come close to the brilliant dialogue we heard on SB. I miss that show!

Damn, I haven’t watched GH in eons. And as a Mason/Julia superfan, and as one who did like the POTENTIAL of Cameron/Alexis [that was completely ruined], I may have to tune in.
