A 32-year-old man was found dead along the Brazos River just north of Jacob’s Ladder in Cameron Park on Friday morning, Waco police said.
Officers responded at 8:17 a.m. to a report that a body was found, Waco police spokesperson Cierra Shipley said in a press release. Police identified the man as Lee Murrow, who had been reported as missing since Tuesday by the Bellmead Police Department. The case is being investigated as a questionable death.
Waco police and Waco Fire Department water rescue boats were on scene Friday morning. An autopsy has been ordered. Police did not release any information about a potential cause of death.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the water gauge on the Brazos River downstream of downtown recorded a gauge height of 16.2 feet shortly before 11 a.m., down from a peak height of almost 17.5 feet recorded at 1:45 a.m. Friday.
