New Mexico is at risk of losing our most iconic canine. But it’s not too late to change course.

For decades, wildlife advocates and environmentalists have pushed for better protections and more proactive recovery efforts for critically imperiled Mexican wolves, or lobos, which roam the southwest portion of our state and eastern Arizona. And while the wild population of wolves has grown, the situation has fundamentally worsened over the last year.
