Functional is defined by the function. That's already what most get wrong. Things to consider. Isometric contraction or eccentric or concentric or more than one. TUT needed. Volume needed. Second is trying to mimic movements. Strengthening the muscles, joints, tendons and ligaments which are involved in the movement AND doing this in the actual plane of the movement does directly transfer into the movement itself.
Intelligent planning is the backbone of strategic thinking in Functional Training. Design a workout plan that challenges different muscle groups in a way that mirrors the demands of your career. For instance, if your job requires a lot of heavy lifting, focus on strengthening your core and lower back. Anticipate potential obstacles, such as time constraints, and adapt your plan accordingly. By planning workouts that are both efficient and effective, you're training your brain to approach professional challenges with the same level of foresight.

To sharpen your strategic thinking, regularly analyze your progress in Functional Training. Keep a workout journal or use an app to track your exercises, reps, and weights. Reflect on what's working well and where you can improve. This continuous analysis not only boosts your physical performance but also trains you to be more reflective and analytical in your career. It teaches you to measure success, recognize patterns, and adjust strategies—a vital skill set for any professional looking to grow.

You will hear thousands of tricks on the net. However, no matter the strategy you choose. Let me tell you this. There is no bad progress. A progress is still a progress. Some days or weeks, you will feel energized, motivated or focused. It will be easy to plan and move forward on the project compare to other days/weeks where you fill tired, exhausted or demotivated. Those are normal process. SPECIALLY if you are working alone. See yourself as an arrow. Sometimes you need to get pulled back before a broad jump. Make sure to work on it daily, either 15 minutes or 2 hours. It is better than not doing it at all. SMALL STEP MATTERS

Functional training can be quite complex based on your everyday activities. And that’s where the challenge is, imo. If your everyday activities revolve around specific MMA movement patterns for example, putting a FT programme that suits you can be quite complex and will surely require a lot of strategic thinking. Similarly, if your daily activities revolve around simple outdoor and domestic movement patterns, your FT programme can be quite simple and traditional. Creating the right training regimen will require self-awareness and the right knowledge and support. This sort of strategic thinking, done the right way, will positively translate into all other areas of your life.

It might be easy to start but hard to stick to a project once the initial motivation wears off. This is natural. Keep going if you have made the choice correctly in the first place.
