Why Am I Seeing Ads on LinkedIn?

Last updated: 2 months ago

You may see ads in your LinkedIn feed, Messaging, or on various LinkedIn Pages if you match the target audience criteria that a LinkedIn advertiser has set up for its ad campaign(s).

Advertisers define their campaign target audience using member attributes such as general location, job title, or skills listed on their profile. Advertisers may also create a target audience using their own customer lists.

LinkedIn members might be matched to target audience criteria based on information provided and inferred from their LinkedIn profile and usage information. For example, years of experience can be inferred from the sum of the years of work history indicated on a member’s profile and professional interests can be inferred from LinkedIn feed posts.

You can view details about why specific ads are displayed to you by clicking the More icon in the upper-right corner of the ad and selecting Why Am I Seeing This Ad?

  • The pop-up window will give you more information about why you were included in that ad’s target audience, the advertiser, and who paid for the ad.
  • You can indicate if this ad is relevant to you by clicking Yes or No at the bottom of the pop-up window.
  • If you indicate the ad is not relevant to you, you can remove it from your feed by clicking Yes after indicating the ad isn’t relevant to you.

You can control the type of information advertisers can use to include you in their target audience by adjusting your LinkedIn ad preferences.
