Responsibilities
The Cytotechnologist is responsible for performing microscopic examinations, providing final interpretations of normal gynecological specimens, providing initial interpretations of non-gynecological, FNA and abnormal gynecological specimens using standardized procedures; assisting in the collection and preparation of FNA and biopsy specimens for immediate evaluation; understanding method principles; performing quality control and quality assurance activities and evaluating results based on patient demographics and history. The Cytotechnologist works independently, organizing work to meet established deadlines and validates all data obtained.

Responsibilities

Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepare and examine slides of human cells using microscopes.
- Assist with the collection of fine needle aspiration samples.
- Stain samples to prepare slides for examination.
- Evaluate cellular samples while adhering to laboratory protocols.
- Calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment, including microscopes.
- Enter diagnostic information into computer systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, preferably in Cytotechnology or a related field.
- Certification as a Cytotechnologist (ASCP certified) is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in using microscopes and other laboratory equipment.
- Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to identify subtle changes in cell samples.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication skills for reporting findings and collaborating with pathologists.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Cytotechnologist is preferred.
- Hospital-based experience is beneficial.
Pay: $67,000.00 - $107,000.00 per year
