The North Kingston Police are selling a challenge coin that reads, “Breach, Eradicate, Arrest, Repeat” along the top edge and “Don’t make us come back” along the bottom.

The coins are being sold for $8.00. According to a Facebook post by the department, with $2 from each sale benefitting the North Kingstown Food Pantry.

The coins are stamped in the middle with the image of a snarling bear and read, “North Kingstown police, B.E.A.R. Unit, 2019.”

According to The New York Times, “Military commanders often give pocket-size medallions, called challenge coins, to service members as a mark of camaraderie. A commander’s unique coin — often copper, bronze or nickel — carries symbols and mottos denoting the unit or office. Coins are usually circular, but also can be pentagons, spades or even dog tags to be worn around the neck.”

To purchase a coin, people are encouraged to “contact Chief Flanagan at the station.”
