South Carolina drops a 4-1 decision at Tennessee in the final game of the regular season

The Gamecocks will take a six-game losing streak into the SEC Tournament which starts Tuesday in Hoover.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — No. 1 Tennessee completed a sweep of the University of South Carolina baseball team with a 4-1 win over the Gamecocks in the regular season finale Saturday afternoon  at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth when Kavares Tears doubled to center to score Hunter Ensley. The Vols put up three runs in the fifth on three RBI singles in a five-hit inning.

Carolina put up its run in the eighth as Talmadge LeCroy brought in Parker Noland with a single to center.

Four Gamecock arms toed the rubber as Matthew Becker took the loss, allowing two runs on three hits. Dylan Eskew pitched two scoreless frames while Chris Veach struck out three in the two final innings of play.

LeCroy was 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead the Gamecock offense.
