David Letterman has become the latest to join a long line of esteemed guests – from Michelle Obama to Nicolas Cage – to take Stephen Colbert's ever-challenging Late Show "questionert": A range of quickfire questions aimed at getting to "the heart" of the guest.

Letterman's first concert? The Beach Boys. Favourite smell? Cigars. What does he think happens when we die? "People won't quiz me with nonsensical questions."
