We were working on a solution for this issue when Google invited us to create an add-on for Google Slides. Our developer team got to work over the summer and today we’re thrilled to introduce Pear Deck for Google Slides™!
This Is Amazing, How Do I Start?!
Simply install the Pear Deck for Google Slides add-on and you can create brilliant Pear Deck presentations right from Slides! You can add your formative assessments AND change the font, color, theme, and layout of your slides!
If you’ve used add-ons for Google Sheets or Docs, the add-on for Slides works the same way. If you’re not familiar with add-ons, you’re in luck! There’s an amazing array of tools that make using G Suite tools easy and effective.

Design Brilliant Presentations
Now that the add-on is installed, you can design a new presentation or open an existing Google Slides deck, PPT or Keynote in Slides. With the add-on enabled, you’ll be able to add interactive questions and formative assessments throughout your slide deck by simply going to the Add-ons Menu and selecting the desired slide or question type. You can also create your own questions from scratch using the Add Custom Interactive Slide drop-down.
You can select from our pre-made Formative Assessment Templates right from the Add-ons menu. Quickly add questions like:
- Warm-up
- Temperature Check
- Reflection
- Exit Ticket
And of course, you can always create your own custom activity or question from scratch. Use our Drawing Response, Number Response or Text Response questions to engage your class.
Ready for the best part? Now you can edit the design of your slides and still get that Pear Deck magic! Change that heading! Drop in a new background color or image! Make it yours! 🎉 🍐 🎉 🍐
ENGAGE YOUR CLASS
When you’re ready, be sure to Present with Pear Deck from the Add-ons Menu or start your presentation from your Pear Deck Dashboard.
When you start your presentation, your students will join your Pear Deck Session from any device with a web browser. Simply direct your students to www.peardeck.com/join and ask them to enter the Session Code.
As you advance your slides, students will be prompted to answer your questions and their answers will appear on your teacher dashboard in real time! Students’ answers can be displayed anonymously on the classroom projector, so instead of worrying about getting the right answer and feeling silly in front of peers, your students are putting ideas out there in a safe, anonymous way, discussing, and learning from each other.
And that’s just the beginning of what you can do with Pear Deck and Google Slides!
