School of Happiness, New Delhi

At the School of Happiness, we are dedicated to providing holistic non-formal education for underprivileged children, focusing on their overall well-being and development. Our mission is to create a positive and nurturing learning environment where every child can thrive. School of Happiness has been actively operating in the Vasant Kunj locality for more than two decades. Recognized as a reputable education center within the community, our interventions have yielded significant positive impacts.

Our alumni are well-established and have contributed to the economic sustainability of their respective families. We provide a rich array of learning resources to enhance the educational experience, ensuring that each child has access to quality materials. Our inclusive approach fosters a spirit of nationalism that transcends caste boundaries. We believe in instilling values that promote unity and understanding. As of today, we are managing 4 centers with 110 student enrollments at the following locations – New Delhi (Vasant Kunj, Rohini, and Mehrauli) and Madhya Pradesh.

Academic Support

 Assessment and Individualized Support

  • Basic Needs Assessment: We begin by assessing the basic needs of each student, tailoring our support to their unique learning abilities.
  • Baseline Evaluation: A baseline evaluation is conducted to determine the specific level of academic support required for each student.

 Professional Tutoring and Remedial Programs

  • Professional Tutors: We hire qualified and experienced professional tutors who conduct tailored classes for students across all grades, ensuring a personalized learning experience.
  • Targeted Remedial Learning: Our program includes targeted remedial learning programs designed to enhance students’ performance in specific subjects, spanning from classes 1 to 12.

 Community Engagement and Volunteer Support

  • Community-Level Volunteers: We actively engage volunteers from the community to provide additional learning support, fostering a collaborative educational environment.
  • Subject-Specific Tutorial Support: Students in grades 10-12 receive specialized tutorial support, addressing subject-specific challenges and promoting academic excellence.

 IT Education

  • Weekly IT Education: Recognizing the importance of technology in the modern world, we provide weekly IT education sessions, ensuring our students are well-equipped for the digital age.

 Health and Medical Facilities

We hold the firm belief that no child can receive a proper education if they are struggling with hunger. A considerable number of the children under our care face varying degrees of malnutrition, a challenge we proactively address. Malnourishment not only hampers a child’s ability to concentrate and learn but also makes them susceptible to various illnesses. Hence, apart from academic support, we ensure that these children receive fruits and nutritious refreshments throughout the day. Adequate nutrition plays a pivotal role in promoting good health, thereby positively impacting academic performance.

Additionally, some students arriving at our facility contend with childhood ailments, injuries, and seasonal diseases that may exacerbate without timely medical intervention. Untreated health issues can potentially evolve into significant medical complications in the future.

To address this, we propose implementing an annual medical checkup for all students enrolled in our program. This initiative will encompass doctor consultations and follow-ups, regular immunization, provision of vitamin supplements, and any other necessary medical support required by these students.

Life Skill training

At the School of Happiness, we recognize that life skills are fundamental to a student’s ability to navigate daily challenges and make informed decisions. Aligned with the guidelines of the World Health Organization, we aim to cultivate five key sets of skills among our SOH students:

Self-awareness

Communication

Decision-making & problem-solving

Critical thinking

Coping with emotions and stress

Our approach to Life Skills is designed to be cohesive and progressive. Sessions and activities seamlessly build upon one another, creating a continuous flow of skill development. The major focus on Life Skills occurs during the early teenage years in grades 6-8. As students mature, the emphasis gradually shifts from life skills to personality development and, eventually, to career guidance.

Extracurricular Activities

Engaging in extracurricular activities is a crucial component of holistic personal development. These activities foster socialization, mutual understanding, and teamwork among students. Participation provides a valuable opportunity for students to connect with peers, enhance their social skills, and discover their interests beyond academic pursuits.

At our institution, we aim to empower students by honing skills such as commitment, leadership, communication, time management, flexibility, and creative thinking through extracurricular activities. We actively encourage student involvement in sports, yoga, and music sessions. Our dedicated faculty members conduct regular music and yoga classes to ensure a well-rounded and enriching experience for our students.

Field Trips

Embarking on field trips and excursions is integral to a child’s comprehensive development. These experiences enhance critical thinking skills, providing students with an opportunity to explore topics or themes from diverse perspectives. Field trips facilitate interactive learning, moving beyond theoretical understanding to hands-on engagement.

For many of our students, typical field trips with their families may be challenging due to financial constraints or limited resources. Our program addresses this gap by ensuring that all students have access to crucial experiences, such as visits to zoos, museums, and other destinations, irrespective of economic limitations.

In addition, we organize an annual out-of-station trip to expose students to environments beyond Delhi, broadening their horizons and enriching their overall educational journey. Join us in providing these valuable and inclusive learning experiences for our students.

Scholarships to pursue Higher education

At SOH, we are not only focused on supporting our students with their school academics but also ensuring that they pursue higher education post-class 12. Career counseling sessions help students choose an appropriate career and make an informative decision. Every student receives full support post-school and can enroll themselves in different colleges and build a career for themselves. Some of the students who are inclined towards entrepreneurship are provided with proper guidance and seed funding to start their own venture/business. Currently, 16 students are pursuing their higher education through our sponsorship program.

Join us on this journey of education, empowerment, and joy at the School of Happiness. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of these young minds.
