Legendary special effects artist Tom Savini provided the blood and gore for such horror classics as Martin, Dawn of the Dead, Maniac, Friday the 13th, The Burning, The Prowler, Creepshow, Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, Day of the Dead, and more – and he’s also an actor, having delivered memorable roles in Knightriders and From Dusk Till Dawn, among others. Now our friends at Bloody Disgusting have confirmed that Savini will be making an appearance in writer/director Damien Leone’s supernatural slasher sequel Terrifier 3, which will be receiving a North American theatrical release on October 11th!
Details on the role Savini will be playing were not revealed.
Leone had a budget of around $55,000 to work with on his breakout horror film Terrifier, and a budget of “a little over” $250,000 for Terrifier 2, which was a massive hit when it was released last year, earning $15.1 million at the box office.

Art the Clown is making his return to theaters nationwide with Terrifier 3 on October 11, 2024, and Bloody Disgusting can confirm that a horror legend has joined the slasher sequel.
Makeup effects master Tom Savini will be making an appearance in director Damien Leone’s Terrifier 3, which Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting are bringing to the big screen!
Tom Savini’s work has long been a huge source of inspiration for Leone, whose Terrifier movies are of course loaded with the kind of practical effects-driven brutality that Savini helped pioneer. From the very first arrival of Jason Voorhees on screen in the original Friday the 13th to the splatter effects in horror classics including Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead, Savini is one of the all-time great masters in the world of special makeup effects, elevating the art of horror movie gore and paving the way for all...

The Terrifier franchise’s Art the Clown is the closest thing we have to a modern day Freddy Krueger, and the killer clown has become a merchandising powerhouse just like the horror icons of the 1980s. Up next, Party City is turning both Art the Clown and the Little Pale Girl into life-size animatronic decorations based on Terrifier 2, and they’re releasing this Halloween!
While the world waits for Terrifier 3 to slash into theaters nationwide on October 11, Party City has unveiled their Art the Clown and Little Pale Girl animatronics, which measure 6.58′ (Art) and 4.83′ (Little Pale Girl) tall!
Here are the official production descriptions from Party City’s website…

After delivering two of the most gleefully violent slasher films of the modern age, Damein Leone is in an intense competition with himself. The writer/director's "Terrifier" debuted in 2016, introducing David Howard Thornton as Art the Clown, a murderous, seemingly invincible psychopath who went on a blood-soaked Halloween rampage so brutal that it put some of the greatest slasher killers in cinema history to shame. Leone then somehow managed to top that with 2022's bigger, weirder, and bloodier, "Terrifier 2." The sequel was so savage that it prompted horror specialist Mike Flannagan to come up with a whole new genre to describe it: the "MegaSlasher."
But "Terrifier 2" did more than celebrate unabashed ultra-violence. It made a decent amount of money, raking in $15.7 million, in fact, which isn't bad for a film that was made on a budget of $250,000. Naturally, a sequel was quickly greenlit, which presented a tantalizing prospect...

You know Art the Clown? The friendly neighborhood clown who attends children’s parties and brings smiles to their faces? Yeah, well, that’s not the Art we’re talking about. Art the Clown is the horrifying villain of the Terrifier franchise by Damien Leone, and he will soon appear in the upcoming Terrifier 3 movie, which is set to be released later this year. Today, we have finally received the first image from the movie, showing Art, and information that the release date is coming earlier than initially planned, on October 11, 2024.
The Terrifier franchise is a modern horror franchise, and while it hasn’t (yet) become a proper mainstream title, it has a devoted following and is definitely among the more popular horror franchises of the modern age, which is why fans of the genre and the series as a whole are eagerly awaiting the new movie’s premiere.

Two weeks ago, we learned that production had wrapped on writer/director Damien Leone’s Terrifier 3, which started filming back in February and was, at the time, aiming for an October 25th release date. Now Deadline reports that fans will have the chance to see this supernatural slasher sequel two weeks earlier than expected, as the North American theatrical release date has moved forward to October 11th! Along with the new release date announcement comes the unveiling of an image from the film, and you can check that out at the bottom of this article.

Since the second film did so well, Terrifier 3 has a substantially higher budget.

Art the Clown is fast-becoming a new slasher icon. Though he's yet to star in a truly massive box office hit, his blood-drenched exploits in "Terrifier 2" went a long way towards building his reputation as the slasher killer of the modern age. Damien Leone, the creator of the franchise and director of the first two installments, has made a name for himself by going further than any Hollywood horror and depicting scenes of such utter depravity that audiences have reportedly struggled not to pass out.
2016's "Terrifier" went largely unnoticed, but is infamous among some horror fans for a scene in which one victim is strung upside down and essentially, shall we say, divided in two in a particularly unfortunate manner. "Terrifier 2" then arrived in 2022 with just as much, if not more ultra-violence, and proved to be almost too brutal for even seasoned horror fans. Despite the film's astonishing level of abject savagery,...

After their report, writer/director Damien Leone took to social media to share his thoughts on the production now that it’s all over.
Leone wrote, “And that’s a wrap on Terrifier 3! This was easily the most challenging film of my career and an emotional rollercoaster to say the least! Luckily I was surrounded by the greatest cast & crew who kept me motivated and enthusiastic throughout. How brutal does a film need to be for horror aficionado Mike Flanagan to invent a new "MegaSlasher" genre to describe it? As brutal as "Terrifier 2." The 2022 "MegaSlasher" (a term basically indistinguishable from the "splatter" genre) was director Damien Leone's sequel to his low-budget 2016 "Terrifier," and took the violence to extreme levels in order to differentiate itself from the standard Hollywood slasher fare. As Leone said during a 2022 Q&a, "We have to show the audience things that [Hollywood] would never have the balls to show.'"
It's a tactic that worked, with the film proving too brutal for some horror fans and making headlines with reports of viewers fainting and vomiting during screenings. "Terrifier 2" scared up big wins at the box office, too, making $15.7 million on a $250,000 budget. Not bad at all, especially for a film that contains some of the most sickening on-screen violence you'll ever see.

Creator/director of the "Terrifier" series, Damien Leone originally developed Art the Clown as one of many ghoulish antagonists for the short films "The 9th Circle" (2008) and "Terrifier" (2011). The blood-thirsty antagonist, who was inspired by iconic horror killers, then took center stage in 2013's "All Hallows' Eve," wherein two kids and their babysitter discover an unmarked VHS tape that showcased the homicidal clown's gruesome deeds. But it wasn't until 2016 that David Howard Thornton took over the role from the original Art actor, Mike Gianelli, for the first official "Terrifier" movie.
In the film, Art wreaks havoc on Halloween night as he hunts down Tara Heyes (Jenna Kanell) and her sister Victoria (Samantha Scaffidi). Unfortunately, as /Film's Chris Evangelista put it in his "Terrifier 2" review, the first official installment in the "Terrifier" canon was "little more than a plotless, storyless, valueless excuse to showcase gore and not much else." "Terrifier" is the little slasher series that could. Writer-director Damien Leone harnessed decades of horror movie history to imbue his low-budget breakout with not just heaps of blood and uber-violence, but a subversive sense of whimsy as well. As a result, "Terrifier" remains one of this century's most successful indie horror titles. Its sequel, "Terrifier 2," carved out a success story all its own. In October 2022, that second installment pulled more than $10 million at the domestic box office. For reference, "Terrifier 2" is a two-and-a-half hour long gorefest. That's no chump change for what's arguably the bloodiest slasher movie of the decade.
It all goes back to the original, however, and without "Terrifier," there would be no franchise (including the upcoming Christmas-themed "Terrifier 3"). Damien Leone first conceived of Art the Clown for the 2008 short "The 9th Circle." Art would later appear in one additional short and two anthology segments...

Earlier this month, Terrifier 2 – which was a massive hit when it was released last year, earning $15.1 million at the box office on a budget of $250,000 – was given a theatrical re-release where the film was accompanied by a teaser for the follow-up Terrifier 3, which is set to receive a theatrical release on October 25, 2024. Now that teaser, which reveals that Terrifier 3 is set around Christmastime, has made its way online and can be seen in the embed above!
A plot synopsis hasn’t been shared for Terrifier 3 just yet, but we do know that David Howard Thornton will be reprising the role of Art the Clown, while Lauren Lavera will be back as Terrifier 2 heroine Sienna. Damien Leone, who wrote and directed both previous Terrifier movies, is back at the helm for this one. He has said that he wants to return to the “creep factor” of...

Art the Clown just doesn't let up. It's been just over a year since "Terrifier 2" took the horror scene by storm, making bank at the box office and inspiring a wide range of responses from enthusiasm to disgust to reported cases of vomiting and fainting. Art's already back for more, though, as the teaser for "Terrifier 3" just dropped along with a special re-release of the second film. This time, the seemingly immortal killer clown is ready to deck the halls with entrails: yep, this is a holiday movie.
"Terrifier 3" was first announced back in June 2023, and given the way these movies have previously been made — on a shoestring budget, with Damien Leone serving as writer, director, and editor — it's no surprise that the sequel ended up on a fast track toward release. In an exclusive interview with /Film, Leone shared that he was also able to bring...

A lot of filmmakers have attempted to create a new horror icon for the next generation, and most have failed rather miserably. "Terrifier" director and special effects artist Damien Leone has managed to usher in a fresh wave of blood and terror with his creation, Art the Clown. The enormously successful sequel, "Terrifier 2," was designed and crafted from the ground up with a ragtag FX team, where most of the gloriously gory set pieces were done almost exclusively by Leone and producer Phil Falcone. To achieve the amount of viscera needed to send even the most hardcore gorehounds heading for the aisle, there were some very special ingredients involved to ensure the maximum amount of gross-out potential.
Throughout horror history, there have been countless recipes for blood that have been used, including but not limited to Hershey's Chocolate Syrup flowing down the drain in Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho" and...

It’s good to see a steady stream of festive horror films being released year-on-year. Recently we’ve had everything from musicals such as Anna and the Apocalypse, to comedy action such as Violent Night. We’ve even been allowed to get a sneak peak of next year’s bloody Christmas as Art the Clown will seemingly take on the role of Santa Claus in Terrifier 3. However, this year we are gifted with a small present that has been placed delicately towards the back of the tree. That present is It’s a Wonderful Knife, and you should unwrap it as soon as you can.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year according to Andy Williams, but that’s not the case for Winnie Carruthers (Jane Widdop). As others around her, including all of her immediate family, are thriving, Winnie is still traumatised by events of the...

"Terrifier 2" caused a stir in 2022 for reportedly making audience members vomit and faint at screenings. But there was more to the success of director Damien Leone's $250,000 indie horror than sensationalist headlines. "Terrifier 2" was memorable for David Howard Thornton's committed performance as Art the Clown, a seemingly invulnerable manifestation of evil who embarks on a Halloween massacre. Thornton had played the character in 2016's "Terrifier," but with the sequel becoming as successful as it did, Art was cemented as perhaps the first original slasher character to make any kind of significant cultural impact since Ghostface.
Of course, it helped that "Terrifier 2" was even bigger, weirder, and bloodier than the original, delivering 138 minutes of unadulterated brutality while still presenting a more fully realized plot than its predecessor. According to horror director extraordinaire Mike Flanagan, "Terrifier 2" was worthy of the designation "MegaSlasher" for the way in which...

One cannot understate the popularity of Ron Howard's over-designed 2000 winter holiday film "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas." Although made for an exorbitant budget of $123 million, "Grinch" would earn over $345 million worldwide and become a Christmastime staple in many a home. This despite being a bloated, 105-minute expansion of a 1957 Dr. Seuss picture book that was only 64 pages.
Seuss' "How the Grinch Stole Christmas!" was previously adapted into a 25-minute TV special in 1966, which itself garnered animated follow-ups in 1977 and 1982. Since 2000, the book was also made into a 2007 stage musical, a 2018 animated film called merely "The Grinch," and a 2020 filmed version of the stage production. 2022 also saw the release of a horror spoof of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas!" called "The Mean One."

I really liked the first Terrifier, but I didn’t like Terrifier 2, as I was put off by its excessive 138 minute running time and its dive into the supernatural. Writer/director Damien Leone has said (in the interview you can watch in the embed above) that those supernatural elements are going to be fully explained in Terrifier 3 – but I’m also very glad to hear that he has said (in an interview with Movieweb) that the next sequel is going to be shorter and less mystical than part 2. While still being as gory and depraved as we expect a Terrifier movie to be.
When asked if the reception of Terrifier 2 had an impact on his approach to Terrifier 3, Leone told Movieweb, “Not too much. The only thing I’m very conscious of when going into Terrifier 3 is trying to make a film under two hours...

Terrifier 2 introduced a lot of supernatural and fantasy elements to the horror franchise, but it sounds like Terrifier 3 will be returning to the more grounded tone of the first movie.
Terrifier 3 will see Art the Clown “unleash chaos on the unsuspecting residents of Miles County as they peacefully drift off to sleep on Christmas Eve.” Franchise creator Damien Leone will return to write and direct Terrifier 3, but with a much larger budget said to be in the seven figures and a wide theatrical release. While chatting with THR, Leone spoke of returning to the original film’s tone with Terrifier 3.
“[Terrifier 2] really has that fantastical, poppy Dream Warriors vibe, and I’m trying to go back to part one, tonally,” Leone said. “So if part two is my Dream Warriors, I want to go back to the original A Nightmare on Elm Street tone with part three.

Terrifier mastermind Damien Leone has pulled off the very rare feat of building a successful indie horror franchise from scratch.
The Philadelphia native created the franchise’s star, Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton), in a 2008 short called The 9th Circle, and while he only appeared briefly, Leone received enough feedback on the disturbing character design to double down on the clown. Within a few years, he made a Terrifier (2011) short film as a proof of concept for a proper feature film, and his DIY attitude would only intensify when he was told all over town that clowns don’t sell.
Leone first cut his teeth as a special effects makeup artist, and through his work on Phil Falcone’s indie Joe’s War, he became fast friends with the producer-director who later decided to bankroll a $35,000 Terrifier feature. The 2016 slasher film would go on to make roughly twelve times its budget,...

Exclusive: Signature Entertainment has pre-bought UK & Irish rights to Damien Leone’s horror sequel Terrifier 3 from The Coven, having released the first two movies in the franchise.
David Howard Thornton and Lauren Lavera are set to reprise their roles as Art the Clown and Sienna, respectively, in the Christmas-themed horror movie which will hit North American theaters on October 25, 2024.
A statement this week from Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting revealed that villanous Art the Clown will “unleash chaos on the unsuspecting residents of Miles County as they peacefully drift off to sleep on Christmas Eve.” Filming is expected to get underway in January, 2024.
The threequel is produced by Phil Falcone (Terrifier franchise) and is directed and written by Damien Leone (Terrifier franchise). As we revealed earlier this year, the film is understood to be getting a budget in the low-mid seven figure range, a significant increase on that of the sequel.

Damien Leone's "Terrifier 2" provided the world with one of the great cinematic success stories of 2022. Made for a tony budget of only $250,000, "Terrifier 2" caused a stir when reports began to emerge of its extreme gore causing some audience members to become sick or faint in theaters. This notoriety attracted more and more curious ticket-buyers, allowing the film to ultimately rack up over $15 million in box office receipts. "Terrifier 2" will be re-released in theaters today, November 1, 2023, to assure that all bloodthirsty looky-loos will have a chance to test their mettle.

"Terrifier 2" is one of the most unlikely horror success stories in movie history.
Seriously. A low-budget slasher film this gobsmackingly violent and depraved -- and one with a genre-busting two and a half hour running time to boot -- should not have been a massive critical and financial success. It should not have become the watercooler horror film of 2022. It should not have become the movie youngsters (and future horror fans) dared each other to watch at sleepovers. But it did. Damien Leone's sequel, a massive improvement on his first film in every imaginable way, tapped into something. Some people were clearly drawn to Art the Clown, the sadistic supernatural killer at the center of the film. Others found themselves compelled by the movie's dreamlike tone, and its surprising, off-kilter humanity. But everyone seemed equally fascinated by the gore. The kind of gore so ambitious and unrelenting that...

Tyga is taking inspiration from the Terrifier franchise for his Halloween costume this year!
The 33-year-old rapper showed up at Darren Dzienciol’s Pop Icons Halloween Party on Saturday (October 28) in Beverly Hills, Calif. dressed as Art the Clown.
He donned a black-and-white jumpsuit and a tiny top hat along with his clown mask. Tyga added some blood spatter and carried a saw to add emphasis to his the frightening costume.
The creepy character derives from the slasher horror franchise created by Damien Leone. Art the Clown is a demonic serial killer that haunts the fictional town of Miles County, New York. The movie Terrifier released in 2016, and its sequel came out in 2022. Terrifier 3 is slated to release in 2024.
Outside of the Terrifier movies, the franchise has existed in comic books and short films.
We have to say, Tyga nailed the look, and we are terrified!

It still feels like we're living in some kind of alternate universe after "Terrifier 2" managed to defy all logical expectations to become one of the biggest indie horror hits of all time. Director Damien Leone is also an accomplished special effects artist, and he ups the ante in the sequel to the nth degree. Riding on the wave of blood and success that the last film provided, "Terrifier 3" is poised to be even gorier, more irreverent, and increasingly offensive in the best possible way. Somehow, Art the Clown and his gleefully demented ways have captivated horror hounds that miss the era of the 1980s when luminaries like Tom Savini were rockstars.
The combination of a compelling neo-slasher icon and elaborate practical effects proved to be box office gold for the sequel, which went on to make over 15 million dollars against a budget of just $250,000. The mostly crowdfunded follow-up...

A young girl appears in an alley and again in front of him. He calls the now grown girl, his daughter Emma who is not happy to hear from him. The Jester confronts him and as John pleads for his life conjures up a noose and, using his tie to control it, hangs him.
At his funeral, we find out he has another daughter Jocelyn (Delaney White; Pooling Evidence) who he had after walking out on Emma and her mother. The Jester also puts in an appearance much to the dismay of a pair of gravediggers.

Like a startlingly funny sermon delivered by your parish’s creepiest priest, “The Nun II” will leave you smiling despite yourself.
Director Michael Chaves helms this surprisingly clever ninth installment in The Conjuring Universe, and his third at-bat for the horror franchise created by James Wan just over a decade ago. "One Piece" is not just one of the most popular manga ever, but a total phenomenon, and one of the best works of modern fiction. Eiichiro Oda crafted a story with great thematic depth, one that explores subjects of imperialism, oppression, racism, slavery, and that's just scratching the surface. It also expands its world to become one of the most fleshed-out fictional landscapes ever. Each island and each character exude a rich history and mythology, which make for a fleshed-out saga with extensive lore.
What keeps it such an entertaining and not at all convoluted story is the fact that Oda has never lost track of the sense of childlike wonder, of adventure, or the goofy tone from the early days of the manga. Even at its darkest moments, when someone died or when we experienced huge battles against governments, "One Piece" always has moments of absurd and ludicrous humor that make you smile.

Yesterday, we shared the news that the supernatural slasher sequel Terrifier 2 will be celebrating its one year anniversary by returning to theatres for a nationwide re-release on November 8th. But that’s not the only Terrifier 2 news there is. The movie is also receiving a Walmart-exclusive 4K steelbook release, and copies are available for pre-order at This Link! For an indie horror movie that went out into the world unrated, Terrifier 2 was a massive hit last year, earning $15.1 million at the box office on a budget of $250,000. Written and directed by Damien Leone, the film tells the following story: After being resurrected by a sinister entity, Art the Clown returns to Miles County where he must hunt down and destroy a teenage girl and her younger brother on Halloween night.

The nationwide re-release begins on November 8th.

XYZ Films gave director Steven Lamorte’s horror film The Mean One, a “violent slasher parody” that draws clear inspiration from the Dr. Seuss classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, a theatrical release in the U.S. last December. I watched the movie at the time, and you can read my 5/10 review at This Link. If you didn’t catch The Mean One last year, you may be glad to hear that DeskPop Entertainment is now planning to give the film a VOD release on October 3rd!
Lamorte gave the following statement to The Hollywood Reporter: “We’re so excited to bring The Mean One to our amazing fans and audiences around the world with the team at Deskpop. Their specialty in working with genre films like ours make them the perfect partner for our unique brand of Christmas chaos!“
DeskPop’s Mat Levy added: “I am thrilled to...
