Dan Schneider has filed a defamation lawsuit against the producers of the Investigation Discovery docuseries “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV,” which uncovered alleged abuse and misconduct at Nickelodeon and became Max’s biggest streaming title ever.

There’s never a bad time to throw on a good ol’ fashioned American movie. That said, it’s hard to argue that summer isn’t the peak time to lean into that patriotic spirit. The hotdogs have been pulled off the grill. The kids are drying off from the pool, and that spot on the couch in front of the television has never looked more appealing. Is there a better feeling than watching the opening credits while the air conditioner works to combat that heat you just brought indoors?
But choosing a good patriotic movie isn’t so simple, because patriotism can mean different things to different people. Perhaps you want to turn your brain off and venture to the moon, like Armstrong and Aldrin once did. Maybe that American spirit comes in the form of a film that honors those who’ve served the country in combat. Patriotism...

Hollywood genres tend to wax and wane, but not mysteries. The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, The Thin Man and The Maltese Falcon introduced early moviegoing audiences to the thrills of a riddle, popularizing a model that could be tweaked for horror, comedy, noirish drama and beyond. Today, mysteries are as popular as ever.
We all love to play armchair detective, and trying to deduce the outcome before it arrives is what keeps the genre fresh. So whether you want an all-star laugh riot or a brooding psychodrama, here are 12 worthwhile mystery movies that’ll put your puzzle-solving skills to good use.

You may know him as a certain superhero, but Chris Hemsworth has a wealth of film roles that go beyond the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After getting his big break on a TV show (the Australian soap opera Home and Away), Hemsworth pivoted to films in the early 2000s — and has only seen growing success since then. In fact, when Extraction dropped in the summer of 2020, its first four weeks saw the largest audience of any other Netflix original movie at the time.
Now, three years later, there’s even more Extraction action to stream. With Extraction 2 out now, there’s no better time to revisit some of the actor’s most memorable movie roles. From Rush and Spiderhead to Snow White and the Huntsman, these films will have you worshipping at the altar of the son of Odin.

On the heels of a hit special, veteran stand-up Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) fired Ava Daniels (Hannah Einbinder), the young writer whose perspective helped push Deborah out of a yearslong creative rut. While harsh, the move was uncharacteristically selfless on Deborah’s part, cutting Ava and her valuable advice loose in an act of tough love. In Nazi concentration camps, tattoos were etched on prisoners’ arms in an attempt to erase their humanity, turning them into numbers. The Tattooist of Auschwitz, a wrenching but ultimately uplifting six-part series adapted from the non-fiction novel by Heather Morris, corrects this atrocity by repeatedly presenting a stark gallery of somber faces, among the millions lost to history but burned into the memory of Auschwitz-Birkenau survivor Lali Sokolov (an affecting Harvey Keitel). Still overcome with anger, grief and guilt in 2003, more than a half-century after the Holocaust, the recently widowed Lali recounts the horrors to novice writer Morris (Melanie Lynskey), framing his account as the most unlikely of love stories. It was in Auschwitz, assigned to tattoo numbers onto incoming prisoners—“It’s worse if you’re gentle,” he’s told—that the cautious Lali (mournful Jonah Hauer-King as the younger man) meets and is instantly smitten by new arrival...

Summer is just around the corner, which means school is almost out — including Abbott Elementary. Although Season 3 is on the shorter side following last year’s dual Hollywood strikes, with14 episodes in total, the hit ABC sitcom has still managed to pack in plenty of fun, drama, and laughs.
This season has seen major developments for many characters, from Janine’s (Quinta Brunson) district storyline to Gregory’s (Tyler James Williams) Garden Goofballs club to Melissa (Lisa Ann Walter) and Jacob (Chris Perfetti) unexpectedly becoming roommates and good friends. However, there’s one Abbott character who hasn’t gotten much time to shine lately: Ava (Janelle James).

Dua Lipa might be having doubts about pulling double duty—serving as both host and musical guest—on SNL this week. At least, that’s what her just-released promo suggests.
The clip finds Dua Lipa taking in Studio 8H from home base before being approached by SNL cast member Chloe Fineman. “I was literally just working on my new impression,” Fineman says as she launches into a poor imitation of the singer-songwriter.
“That’s hilarious,” Lipa replies. “Who was it?”
Unable to help Fineman fine-tune the impression, the musician ultimately attempts a makeover that turns Fineman into a Dua Lipa doppelgänger.
“I’m really feeling the Dua spirit,” Fineman says ahead of a not-much-better impression. But it’s good enough for Dua Lipa.
“Okay, it’s close enough. You’re gonna nail it, kid,” Lipa says to a confused Fineman.

Bret Baier‘s 16-year-old son Paul underwent his fifth open-heart surgery last week, and the Fox News host has since expressed his gratitude as his son is now on the road to recovery. “Thanks to the amazing doctors and nurses at the hospital – Paul’s prognosis is great,” Bret wrote on X. “Thank you all for the prayers and support.” In an interview with People, Bret relayed the shocking series of days the family underwent. Initially, there were no obvious signs in the days leading up to Paul’s emergency surgery. The Baier family was staying at their home in Palm Beach, Florida – where they live when they’re not in Washington D.C. – when Paul caught what seemed to be the common cold. His mother, Amy Baier, took him to the doctor as a precaution. “You can never be too sure, especially with cardiac kids. The more you check on things,...

The Trailer for Netflix’s Ashley Madison Docuseries Has Sex, Shame, and One Life-Ruining Data Breach
“Life Is Short. Have an Affair.”
That was the tagline for — and the promise of — AshleyMadison.com, the controversial website where married people could sign up to have an affair with another married person. It seemed like a good idea to many — especially those who directly profited from the proposition — until the site’s servers were subjected to arguably the biggest data breach of all time. The hack exposed millions of users’ very personal data, ending marriages and ruining lives.
Netflix on Wednesday released the trailer for its three-part docuseries “Ashley Madison: Sex, Lies, & Scandal.” It hails from Minnow Films and is directed by Toby Paton; each episode is 50-minutes long. The series is produced by Chris McLaughlin and executive produced by Fiona Caldwell and Sophie Jones. Episodes are directed by Zoe Hutton and Gagan Rehill.

Bensler fans all remember that Law & Order: Svu promo for Season 24 Episode 12 where Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) are holding each other’s faces and look like they’re just about to kiss. When the episode aired, this emotional Benson and Stabler scene never happened. After much fanfare, Hargitay reveals key details about this almost lip lock in a new interview. “To be honest with you, Chris [Meloni] and I thought it should go one way, and the powers that be didn’t, so it got changed at the last minute, that near kiss,” the actress tells Variety. “Obviously Dick [Wolf] gets final say. It’s his show and he didn’t want that.” Ever since Stabler’s return to Benson’s world after his abrupt exit a decade ago and his wife Kathy’s tragic death, Bensler fans have been hoping that the former partners would finally get together.
