Question

Power BI timestamp query

Hi, we’re pulling data from ticket fields using PowerBI but all the timestamp data such as when the ticket was logged and responded to is 7 hours offset (earlier) than our current time zone.  Is there a setting somewhere to set the relative time of the underlying data?

The times on the Freshservice console view of the tickets are all showing correctly.

Thanks

Andy

@AndyRussell Could you please elaborate more on how you are pulling data from ticket fields using PowerBI? Are you relying on data exports or schedules?

just using Analytics - Settings - Data Export and scheduling a regular export out to an api path

@AndyRussell We are currently working on a feature that provides the ability to change/choose the timezone in which you can view reports. This will also extend to the API when you download/export the report’s data. Will this functionality help meet your requirement?

yes this would certainly help, does that imply there is currently an underlying timezone applied to all FreshService data - it seems to be UTC -6 at the moment (BST -7).  I’ve been trying to find out from support directly but haven’t got an answer yet.

@AndyRussell There is a timestamp (and hence, an associated timezone) for all data. Reports in analytics currently display all data in the user’s local timezone. In an upcoming release, there will be an option for the user to view the report using a different timezone.

thanks, that’s how I’d expect it to work but it doesn’t explain why I see the data in PowerBI or CSV email export showing a 7 hour offset.  All my timezones locally are right and gui view of ticket data is correct. I haven’t been able to get an answer from Support yet either….
