- Danielle FOctober 26, 2014Don't leave cash on the bar! Homeless folk pop in and steal often from your server. Laid back rustic vibe + great whiskey. Dog friendly (inside too!) Get some of their roasted spiced nuts, delish!
- EaterApril 16, 2013The back bar is whiskey-centric here, but the bartenders are open-minded enough to mix up anything you want. The designer did a solid job, making the bar feel like the belly of a WWII war ship.
- Cocktails are pretty solid. Best thing is that you can order some beef jerky as a bar snack to nibble on.
- Bubba BrooksApril 5, 2016Great happy hour. $8 for a Pacifico, michelada, and tequila shot. Also the bar tender made me an impromptu iced Irish Coffee that was quite good!
- Best Old Fashions in the city. Great chill spot on off nights as well. 24-hour food right next door when you're ready to call it a night!
- Raj S.August 8, 2014One of my favorite cocktail bars in the city. There is plenty of space; good spot to bring a large group of people before heading out for the night.
- Lisa SunseriApril 18, 2012My new favorite male bartender, Made me a great whiskey drink. Super friendly. Second time there and will cont to go back. Gets crowded at night. Lots of standing room. (3 of 4 petals via Fondu) Read more
- SFGate ManagerJuly 16, 2012This bar boasts a well-done and straightforward cocktail list, a thoughtful selection of 10 beers on tap, and perhaps most striking, a chic yet casual and user-friendly design.
- Connie ChiuApril 15, 2017Cool vibes and great cocktails. A little hard to hear and really dark inside, so don't come here on a first date ;)
- The big windows make it really lovely on a light summers afternoon.
- Gets crowded and loud on weekends, but the drinks are great and the atmosphere is friendly and low-stress.
- City WalksOctober 1, 2011Julie Kim talks about the in-between and unscripted nature of the Church and Market intersection. She discusses that it's the mixing of people and the unexpected that makes the location successful. Read more
- beer, cocktails, pool, and communal seating. Good date or meet up spot in castro/mission
- Olafur GudjonssonDecember 23, 2012It's a sort of civilized place... It's refreshing to enjoy a beer amongst people with manners and seemingly little mental baggage:)
- After happy hour (8ish) is the best time to grab a seat. After 9:30, it gets stupid.
- Raj S.September 21, 2014They make an incredible rye old fashioned. The cocktails on the menu are great but if you need an old staple, now you know.
- ClandestineDrinkerAugust 24, 2019A great spot to hit in the afternoon as part of a cocktail crawl along with Blackbird and Lucky 13.
- Try to sit/stand close to the entrance where you are exposed to the windows/natural light. People watching is a gem.
- I love the cocktails here. The whisk(e)y selection is tip top as well.
- Joshua HaftelJanuary 27, 2015Good (not great) cocktails with a lively atmosphere. Cool place to hop to from Blackbird.
- Margot SeetoAugust 19, 2016Decent selection of both beers and cocktails. Convenient location and knowledgable bar staff.
- Greg SmithiesAugust 5, 2011Essentially a mildly less hipster, more upscale version of Bloodhound. No qualms with that. It works. The cocktails are fantastic
- Frances 미라November 25, 2013The remodel from being BOC to Churchill is beautiful. So much better from what the interior looked before.
- Ehtesh ChoudhuryAugust 19, 2013Ryan Greene is a very cool bouncer who works here. Check out his music: https://soundcloud.com/goldenshelltoes/01-backdoorman
- Chill bar with great cocktails. The Jimmy Rose is an all time favorite.
- Kim OwensOctober 19, 2012Used to be a more dive-ish place, but the new owners have done magic with the bar's interior. Drinks are mighty tasty too.
- Cocktails are meticulous. The happy hour deals are nice.
- Anthony MorelliAugust 3, 2013Pretty decent cocktails. Made a good French 75, a decent sazerac, and a decent last word.
- If pat is working ask for his cocktail "third place" it's an angostura heavy sour variation fucking good!
- Grab some addictive bourbon-spiced nuts to go with your cocktail.
- Gillian PedenApril 5, 2012The specialty drinks top the charts. Everything from gin based to tequilla based. Enjoy!
- Try the House Margarita! It's a little bit smokier than you might be used to, but it's delicious!!
- Josh AlexanderOctober 15, 2011Adventurous? Ask the bartender to make you an experimental drink that's being evaluated for possible placement on the menu.
- :)September 8, 2011They have a strong bar program here and great windows that let in light and fresh air.
- David RApril 17, 2018Love the location, but the service is lousy and slow. Prefer blackbird and hi tops if you’re in the area.
- Alan HJuly 21, 2013Too crowded for couples to enjoy on the weekend, this place certainly has the trendy cocktail bar atmosphere down
