Small Rifle Military Primers

Firing pin retraction springs are rarely found in Small Rifle Military Primers. If ammunition is not assembled with care, a “slam-fire” can occur before the bolt locks. Military arsenals use different processes and components than their commercial counterparts, including various primer sensitivity criteria. CCI produces commercial rifle primers that meet military sensitivity specifications, reducing the risk of a slam-fire when other conditions get out of control*. Look for CCI Military primers if you’re reloading for a military semi-auto. More than special primers are required for effective slam-fire prevention. The amount of headspace in the chamber, the form and protrusion of the firing pin, bolt velocity, cartridge case condition, and other parameters can all affect slam-fire potential.
