The Beta channel has been updated to 50.0.2661.57 (Platform version: 7978.36.0) for all Chrome OS devices. This build contains a number of bug fixes, security updates and feature enhancements.  A list of changes can be found here.

The Stable channel has been updated to 49.0.2623.111 (Platform version: 7834.66.0/7834.67.0) for all Chrome OS devices. This build contains a number of bug fixes, an update to Adobe Flash Player (21.0.0.197-r1) and security fixes. Systems will be receiving updates over the next several days.

The Admin console has been updated. Admins can now restrict Chromebooks from connecting to unmanaged networks. Admins can also choose to restrict their devices from connecting to entire interfaces like WiFi or Ethernet.

These settings will apply to devices using version 49 or above.

Known issues are available here. Enterprise customers can report an issue by contacting support.

Security Fixes and Rewards

Note: Access to bug details and links may be kept restricted until a majority of users are updated with a fix. We will also retain restrictions if the bug exists in a third party library that other projects similarly depend on, but haven’t yet fixed.

As usual, our ongoing internal security work was responsible for a wide range of fixes:
  • [597518] CVE-2016-1650: Various fixes from internal audits, fuzzing and other initiatives.
  • Multiple vulnerabilities in V8 fixed at the tip of the 4.9 branch (currently 4.9.385.33).

Many of our security bugs are detected using AddressSanitizer, MemorySanitizer, Control Flow Integrity or LibFuzzer.

The Chrome team is excited to announce the launch of Chrome 49 for Android. Chrome 49.0.2623.91 will be available in Google Play over the next few hours.
