Weather Update: IMD predicts light to moderate rainfall along with hail and thunderstorm over Central India today

According to IMD, a very light to moderate rainfall spell along with hailstorm activity, gusty winds and thunderstorms is expected to take place over Central India from today and will prevail till tomorrow.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in its latest bulletin has forecasted various weather conditions across India. According to IMD, a very light to moderate rainfall spell along with hailstorm activity, gusty winds and thunderstorms is expected to take place over Central India from today and will prevail till tomorrow.

Hailstorms happened at isolated locations of Sikkim, Madhya Pradesh, Marathwada and Vidarbha. Thunder along with lightning occurred at isolated places of Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.

IMD’S Forecast and warnings

A channel of wind discontinuity is running from southeast Rajasthan to northeast Bangladesh in the bottom tropospheric levels. The presence of cyclonic circulation is also there. Under this weather condition, isolated to scattered, light and moderate rainfall co-occur with lightning, gusty winds and thunderstorms is predicted to take place over Marthwada, Chattisgarh, Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha and on Madhya Pradesh during 11th April and will continue till 13th April.

A moderate rainfall along with lightning and thunderstorm is predicted to happen over Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and Andaman & Nicobar Islands from today till 13th April.

Almost the same condition is likely to take place over the next seven days in Kerala, Mahe, Interior Karnataka and Telangana. In places like Puducherry, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Karaikal, Yanam and Tamil Nadu this condition will continue till 15th April.

In isolated places of Madhya Pradesh, hailstorm activity is expected to occur today, and in Vidarbha it will take place today and tomorrow while in Marathwada it will happen from today and will last till 13th April.

Temperature to Watch:

Minimum temperatures are above normal by 3-6°C over many parts of Rajasthan today and by 2-4°C at isolated places over Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Maharashtra, Kerala, Mahe and in Gujarat whereas, there will be no major change in maximum temperatures over Northwest India in the next three days.

Meanwhile, Kerala and Mahe will continue to have hot and humid weather from today till 14th April and the same weather condition will be seen at places like Coastal Karnataka, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Yanam  and  Karaikal for next two days.
