- [Instructor] As I mentioned earlier, iPad OS offers true multitasking, in that it lets you work simultaneously with two and in some cases three apps on screen at once. For example, let's say I open up the mail app, and I want to share some photos in a new message. But I want to be able to browse through the photos that I want to add. So I'm going to swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the dock, but instead of switching to the photos app, I'm going to tap and hold on its icon for a moment, and then drag it out of the dock. And I get this little floating panel. And when I release it, it snaps to the side of my screen floating on top of the mail app. This is called Slide Over mode. Slide Over is great when you just need to reference information in the smaller panel, but want to reserve the majority of the screen for the main app you're working in.
