Users can now convert PPTX files to Google presentations by either uploading the file from your desktop or converting the file from your documents list. Just follow the same simple steps as you normally would when converting files to Google Docs formats.

We have added a shortcuts menu to spreadsheets to make them easier to find. Hit Ctrl+/ (or Cmd+/ on a Mac) to pull up the list of shortcuts and learn new ways to speed up your workflow.

Objectionable Content and Content Compliance email security settings are now available directly in the Google Apps Control Panel. These new settings will allow admins to filter messages based on word lists or predefined sets of words, phrases, text patterns, or numerical patterns.

With Objectionable Content policies, you choose whether messages containing certain words (obscenities, for example) are rejected or delivered, and you have the option to notify others when the filter is triggered.

Content Compliance policies (or settings) are email filters based on predefined sets of words, phrases, text patterns, or numerical patterns. Content Compliance filters scan messages for content that matches one or more of the rules that you set within the policy. You can choose whether these messages are rejected or delivered, and you also have the option to notify others when filters are triggered.

1. Administrators can log into the Control Panel.
2. Follow the instructions in Add Email Settings to an Organization.
3. In the Add Setting dialog box, click ‘Objectionable Content’ in the left navigation menu.
4. Edit each of the following sections: Messages to Affect, Conditions, and Consequences.
5. When you are finished making changes, click ‘Add Setting’ to close the dialog box.
Any settings you add will be highlighted on the Settings page.
6. Click ‘Save changes’ at the bottom of the Email Settings page

Content Compliance policies:

You can now preview ZIP and RAR archives without downloading them. When you receive one of these types of archives, you’ll be able to browse through the files contained in the archive, preview supported files in Google Docs, and download selected items. This feature is also available on Google Docs for mobile.

To preview any ZIP or RAR file in Gmail, click the ‘View’ button in the attachments area of the conversation. From here you can choose to download the file, preview in Google Docs, or print supported PDFs.

We are releasing several new inbox styles to help you manage your mail. You can now choose from the following:

- Classic - the default inbox style with messages ordered chronologically
- Priority Inbox - important and unread messages appear at the top, then starred messages, then everything else
- Important first - important mail at the top of the page, everything else below
- Unread first - unread mail at the top of the page, everything else below
- Starred first - starred messages at the top, everything else below

How to access what's new:
Once this feature becomes available for your account, you can choose the style you prefer from the tabs at the top of your inbox. These tabs will disappear after a week, but you can always change your preference from the drop down menu next to the ‘Inbox’ label.

We’ve released two security enhancements to Gmail that help protect you from phishing attempts.

- Going forward, email address will be visible next to the display name for senders that aren’t in your Contacts list.
- We now scan messages and alert you if the sender may have spoofed a Gmail address.

We are temporarily suspending AIM functionality for our Chat product while we wait for needed system updates on the part of of AIM's creator, AOL. During this period, you won't be able to invite your AIM buddies to join your Chat list, nor will you be able to chat with the AIM buddies that you had on your Chat list. We apologize for any inconveniences caused by the temporary suspension of this feature.

We are in direct communication with AOL and they have informed as that they are actively working on these needed updates. Once AOL has finished updating their system, we will reinstate AIM functionality for our Chat product. We appreciate your patience in the interim.

Starting July 2, 2011, RIM will be deprecating support for BES 4.1.6 and 4.1.7. Google Apps will stop supporting these BES versions starting July 2, 2011. Google Apps Connector for BES 3.x will still be supported for BES 5.x. We strongly urge customers to upgrade to BES version 5.x and version 3.x of the Connector. You can now open Office files stored in Google Docs directly from Microsoft Office. After downloading the file with Google Cloud Connect, you can sync changes to the file stored in Docs and collaborate with others.

You can now search all messages in your Gmail account with the addition of server search for Google Sync enabled iOS devices.

To search messages that are not synced locally, open the Mail app on an iOS device, select a Google Sync configured Gmail account, and search your mail. When the ‘Continue Search on Server’ prompt appears, click it to complete your search.
