IMAP access is now available to Gmail users at no additional cost, so people can connect client applications like Microsoft Outlook and Apple Mail, and mobile devices like the iPhone to their Gmail accounts. Actions taken while connected by IMAP will be reflected next time the user signs in to the Gmail web interface, or connects to their account from a different IMAP application.

Google Spreadsheet users can now do conditional formatting, which automatically changes the format of a cell based on the cell's contents. Google Spreadsheets also now lets users hide columns and rows.

Google Spreadsheets now lets users create functions that continuously query Google.com for information, like pulling real-time stock quotes from a company's stock symbol. Users can also complete lists using Google Sets. For example, if you know the first ten states in the US, Google Spreadsheets will help you fill in the other 40 states. Google Spreadsheets also now supports new text formats, like strikethrough.
