When users instant message using Gmail's browser-based chat feature, they can now have multi-user chats, add emoticons to their messages, and view media like YouTube videos right in the chat window.

Businesses and other organizations moving from old mail solutions that support IMAP can use the IMAP migration tool, but for administrators currently on a non-IMAP solution, this API lets them build custom applications to migrate mail from any legacy system to Google Apps.

IMAP access is now available to Gmail users at no additional cost, so people can connect client applications like Microsoft Outlook and Apple Mail, and mobile devices like the iPhone to their Gmail accounts. Actions taken while connected by IMAP will be reflected next time the user signs in to the Gmail web interface, or connects to their account from a different IMAP application.

Google Spreadsheet users can now do conditional formatting, which automatically changes the format of a cell based on the cell's contents. Google Spreadsheets also now lets users hide columns and rows.

In Google Docs, open a spreadsheet, select a group of cells, and click the icon to change the cell background. Select 'Change with rules...' and add your conditional formatting preferences. To hide a row or column, select a set of rows or columns, right click, and choose 'Hide'.
